I always wonder at the spectacular sunrises and sunsets that often grace the skies above my little cottage. Maybe there are more spectacular ones across the globe, but nevertheless I am always grateful for the free spectacle that Mother Nature provides almost every day for me, and for all who take the time to raise their tired heads to look above. Gentle reader, few words today, just images to share God's Grandeur, and to show the many colours and moods of the skies above.
A rose-pink sunrise in the eastern sky,
Warm glow of welcome in the dawning day
A golden puff of cloud, a silver lining hides

. . . and then a rainbow boldly flies across the skies
Bifröst to the warriors from the North

A pastel pink and baby blue . . .

. . . or gentle mauve and aqua hue

When rain does fall, as oft it does of late
My camera at the ready takes advantage of the drops
The attic window gives a sweeping view out west
while in the valley roses glow through windows long since passed from view
A storm is raging in the sky above
while colours clash and I can only stare
as Titans throw their paintballs far beyond our world
a desert scene, with spiky alien plant
or moody, brooding, weather holds a threat
A tropic feel of orange splashed across
or cottage window light
where we will rest tonight
when finally the sun has dropped into the sea.

Positively breath taking CH. Wonderful wonderful pictures and superb words. Thank you so much for sharing them.

These are stunning CH. Really beautiful.
Thank you.
Thank you Calico Kate and Sumarell. If anyone knows sunsets, you two do! The splendour of the skies is such a gift, and each one perfectly different from the last. I am amazed how the sky can be palest pastel pink or brightest vivid orange or livid purple and red full of such anger.
Every one of these was taken outside my cottage, using neighbouring buildings and trees for contrast, except the one with the ruined window.
Both words and photos are atunning. Thank you so much, it gave a lift to my morning!
Words fail me...so beautiful, both words and images. Thank you. (There you see, I KNEW words couldn't fail me!!!)
Easily one of my favorite things. Oh Celtic Heart, I can so relate to this post, as I love sunrises and sunsets too. I know just what you mean, sitting in wonder at the vivid colors, how they change, what a gift it is, how I am often lost for words but always thankful to have been there to experience it. For some reason we do not seem to get those deep purple tones over here, or, not very often at all. Gosh, these are stunning photos, as always, and as always lovely writing. Thank you, my dear friend, for posting this!! bug higs xo
Oh C.H.
Was feeling kind of down-Seashell enclosed your link-
Now I am up in the clouds with joy.
Thank you soo much for sharing
Every time you out do yourself.
xx
Until my mid twenties I lived in Northumberland (wonderful place) overlooking the seeping beaches of Bamburgh and Lindisarne. It was only when I moved to Wales that I realised I had never seen the sun set over the sea - obvious really and yet it made a great impression on me. Now I sometimes long for the sunrise over water...
Today I am in Morzine about as far from the sea as possible - but then I have the mountains, and the stars.
Mark
Elizabeth, thank you for your kind comments; I'm happy they've given you a lift.
PFG, thank you too! I'm pleased you found your words.
Seashell, what can I say? You know a thing or two about sunsets yourself. Bug Higs!
Puffin, I'm sorry you are down. Thank you for stopping by today.
Mark, as I've always lived by an ocean I've always had water-enhanced sunrises or sunsets. By far the best place I've lived is Iceland, for the sea had a backdrop of high, snowcapped mountains and the sky was full of stars and Aurora Borealis!
I never know what to say CH, your photos are so incredibly beautiful. Thank you so much, for taking the photos and being you. xx
These are breathtaking. Sometimes we forget to look up and see what we were missing.. I'll be looking skywards this evening...
Faith, thank you, but I only take advantage of what is there!
Tattie, thank you too, and I hope you don't walk into anything while looking up!
I stood the other day looking at airplane lines across the sky wondering what the great artists of the past would make of such a thing.
Sunrise and sunset - the two great gifts of the day.
Your photographs are so lovely. The one through the window is fantastic!
Thank you Pondie! It has rained so much of late that I must turn it to my advantage, hence looking through the window! It was taken after the rain stopped, just as the sun broke through and there was enough cloud to give the lovely colours.
these pics are spectacular! you never took all of them, did you?
hats off to you!
Friko, thank you indeed, for I must 'fess up I did take every one of them. I only use my own work, and I am passionate about photography. The majority of these ones are taken from my front doorstep too! And that makes me realise just how fortunate I am to live where I do.
