THE SEA OF SUNSET.
This is the land the sunset washes,
These are the banks of the Yellow Sea;
Where it rose, or whither it rushes,
These are the western mystery!
These are the banks of the Yellow Sea;
Where it rose, or whither it rushes,
These are the western mystery!
Night after night her purple traffic
Strews the landing with opal bales;
Merchantmen poise upon horizons,
Dip, and vanish with fairy sails.

. . continuing from last week, here are the sunsets for the second week of two thousand and twelve . There have been pale and interesting, wild and woolly, and even a small, marshmallow pink elephant.
So here is the sky of late afternoon on January 8th with magic peaks of mountains high on some distant foreign shore; full of mystery and just out of reach, beyond the far horizon . . .

January 8th
January 9th brought a sky so mono-toned that stark branches, and a small, sweet singing bird break up the pale, grey blue . . .

January 9th
The sky did come alive on January 10th, with many clouds to catch the setting sun . . .

yet it was a sky of two halves that day, as the sun caught some and others bluish-grey . . .

January 10th (2)
January 11th brought yet another still and cloudless sky that slipped silent into twilight darkening sky

January 11th
but contrast great on January 12th, a great pink blaze reached out across the western sky. . . such burnished pink aglow

and branches bare contrast against the deep, pink~purple setting sun

January 12th (2)
On January 13th a fluffy pink marshmallow elephant, even with its own, sweet shadow danced across the scudding sky . .

And finally, the week rounds out with a vista of blue with cotton puffs . . .

So, Gentle Reader, the changing skies as week two of our new year draws to a close, another just around the dawn . . .

I am loving this series! To see how different each sunset is reminds me that each DAY is different and unique in it's own way....not one running into another as I often feel it is!
Your photos are beautiful! You have a gift with the camera! Darlene
